Role Purpose
To ensure the efficient recovery of outstanding accounts while maintaining a high standard of customer service and minimizing non-performing loans (NPLs). The Direct Debit Officer is responsible for executing effective collection strategies, improving recovery rates, and supporting the organization’s overall financial health through proactive account management and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Manage and execute efficient direct debit processes to meet departmental targets.
- Monitor and maintain acceptable levels of non-performing loans.
Initiate and follow up on direct debits; reconcile direct debit accounts. - Identify and implement effective solutions for past-due accounts that benefit both the borrower and the organization.
- Analyze direct debit trends and recommend strategies for improved recovery.
- Provide timely and accurate reports on accounts receivable and direct debit.
- Maintain excellent client service and uphold the organization’s reputation.
- Suggest and implement improvements to the direct debit process.
- Manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Banking & Finance, Accountancy, Business Administration, or related field.
- Proven experience with standard direct debit procedures, ideally in a financial institution.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management abilities.
- High level of integrity and professionalism; ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Familiarity with the banking industry and collections regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
- Team player with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
