Purpose of the role

Based in Tanzania The BIT Officer keeps Unifi Tanzania running by ensuring every branch and office has reliable network and hardware and well-maintained facilities. Reporting to the Infrastructure Team Lead, you'll resolve issues quickly, improve reliability and help our community make life easy for our clients every day.


Responsibilities 

  • Provide first-line IT support for hardware, software, systems and connectivity issues
  • Resolve day-to-day technical issues, escalating more complex problems when needed and basic systems training 
  • Manage and follow up on support tickets to ensure timely resolution 
  • Support employee onboarding and offboarding by preparing, configuring and recovering IT equipment and system access
  • Help the Unifi community install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot issues related to computers, laptops, printers and other IT equipment
  • Keep devices secure, up to date and ready for use through approved software, security and system updates
  • Support basic network, Wi-Fi and user access administration, escalating infrastructure issues where required
  • Assist with hardware repairs, replacements, upgrades and warranty processes
  • Maintain accurate IT asset records and equipment assignments
  • Coordinate the day-to-day maintenance of office facilities and respond to facilities-related requests
  • Work with landlords, contractors and service providers to ensure offices are safe, functional and well maintained
  • Coordinate repairs, maintenance and approved facilities purchases
  • Monitor service providers and escalate significant facilities or health and safety issues when needed
  • Maintain accurate documentation of IT assets, licences, service providers and support activities
  • Keep technical documentation and user guides current and easy to use
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend practical improvements to systems, processes and user support

Requirements

  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field
  • 2–3 years' experience in an IT support, helpdesk or technical support role
  • Comfortable supporting Windows devices, Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, printers and other office IT equipment
  • Be on standby when and as needed to help keep our systems running smoothly 
  • Confident troubleshooting day-to-day network and connectivity issues
  • Familiar with IT asset management, user access and information security best practices
  • Experience using a helpdesk or ticketing system is an advantage
  • Experience with remote support tools such as Datto, N-able or similar is an advantage
  • Experience coordinating facilities or working with external service providers is an advantage
  • Curious, practical and excited to figure things out 
  • Comfortable taking ownership and working independently to get things done
  • A clear communicator in English 
  • Organised and dependable, with the ability to handle many tasks while maintaining high standards
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and responding calmly when priorities change
  • A growth mindset with a passion for learning, improving and sharing knowledge with others
